Center’s schemes for Jammu and Kashmir will get rid of poverty, unemployment: Gadkari

Jammu, Nov 24 (PTI) Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said the central government’s schemes for Jammu and Kashmir will rid the people of the union territory from poverty and unemployment. Along with this, he assured to build infrastructure at par with European standards in the next three years.

This was stated by the Minister of Road Transport and Highways in his address after laying the foundation stone of 25 National Highway projects totaling 257 km with an investment of Rs 11,721 crore in Doda district.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also attended the function.

These projects are strategically important for the agricultural, industrial and socio-economic progress of the region as well as rapid movement of security forces and will provide all-weather connectivity between the Jammu and Kashmir Valley.

Gadkari said, “The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a pledge for the holistic development of Jammu and Kashmir and we are working accordingly. The objective of the ‘Road Map’ made for Jammu and Kashmir is to bring people out of poverty. To get rid of it and to provide employment to the youth.”
