Cabinet approves allocation of 5 MHz spectrum for railways
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar gave this information. He said that this will help the Railways in improving the safety of the passengers.
The project, estimated to cost around Rs 25,000 crore, will be completed in the next five years. Railways is currently dependent on optical fiber for its communication network, but after the allocation of new spectrum, it will be able to use fast radio.
Javadekar said that this allocation will help in improving both the communication and signaling network of the Railways.
An official spokesperson tweeted, “Cabinet approves allocation of five MHz spectrum in 700 MHz band to Indian Railways for safety and security services in stations and trains, with an estimated investment of over Rs 25,000 crore, the project will be the next Will be completed in five years.”
