British Museum Exhibition to Explore Ancient Cultures of Peru | News | mcezone

The British Museum announced on Tuesday that it will stage a major exhibition on the ancient cultures of Peru, titled “Peru: A Journey in Time”, which will run from November 11, 2021 to February 20, 2022.

“We are excited to announce our next special exhibition on the remarkable history of Peru,” the museum posted on Twitter.

“Step into the vibrant world of Peru and discover how people have evolved over millennia in one of the most complex and challenging environments on the planet,” reads the description of the exhibition.

According to the London-based museum, this art display highlights the history, beliefs and cultural achievements of the various peoples who lived in Peru from around 2500 BC until the arrival of Europeans in the 1500s, and their legacy over the centuries.

‘A Journey in Time’ will encourage visitors to explore how past cultures – from the early indigenous peoples of Peru to the ill-fated Inca – were shaped by the diverse landscapes of the central Andes, some at the highest elevations and some in the were flourishing. The driest desert on Earth.

In addition, museum-goers will be able to explore how the above mentioned cultures developed unique approaches to time, agriculture, economy and power, some of which persist today.

Exhibits include items from the collections of the British Museum, including ceramics, precious metals, textiles, and ritual materials, as well as extraordinary pieces borrowed from Peru.

Striking, large-scale photography and video of iconic sites including Nazca geoglyphs and Machu Picchu will also be on display as part of this collection.

All these elements will give visitors an appreciation of the artistic and architectural skills of ancient Andean cultures and a vivid sense of place.
