america news: mount sinai hospital will send ventilator ppe kit mask to india
New York, Jun 4 (PTI) The city’s Mount Sinai Hospital is donating ventilators, PPE kits, masks and sanitizers to the COVID relief efforts in India.
The hospital has given essential medical supplies including 10 ventilators, circuits, PPE kits, face shields, digital thermometers, N95 masks and hand sanitizers to the expatriate organization Association of Indians in America (AIA).
Jaipur Foot USA will ship a consignment of these supplies to India and then distribute it to various states.
During a brief ceremony at Mount Sinai on Thursday, AIA President Dr. Urmilesh and Secretary Dr. Usha Bansal thanked Mount Sinai Hospital and their President, Dr. David Reich, for donating vital supplies to India.
Robby Freeman, President of Clinical Innovation for Mount Sinai Health System, was also present at the ceremony.
Prem Bhandari, Head, Jaipur Foot USA, expressed his gratitude to eminent cardiologist Dr Samin Sharma, Director of Interventional and Clinical Cardiology and Director and President of Mount Sinai Heart Network for their efforts in facilitating this collaboration.
Bhandari said that it is because of Sharma’s efforts that critical medical equipment has reached the needy hospitals and patients in India which is facing the second wave of corona virus.
Bhandari thanked Reich and Freeman as well as Mount Sinai Hospital for their cooperation and efforts.
He said that these devices would be distributed through Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti-BMVSS, parent organization of Jaipur Foot USA, to various charitable hospitals in many states and union territories including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and New Delhi.
