In the year 1900, at the age of less than 25, Birsa Munda shook the British rule with his leadership ability. He breathed his last on 9 June in jail after being captured by the British. In the tribal society, he is considered as God and the slogans of struggle to protect the water, forest and land given by him still resonate in the politics of Jharkhand.
Governor-CM paid tribute
Governor Draupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid tributes to the immortal martyr Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his death anniversary on Wednesday. Along with this, veterans including Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, State BJP President Deepak Prakash, senior RJD leader and Labor Minister Satyanand Bhokta paid tribute to him. Governor Draupadi Murmu paid homage to Lord Birsa Munda by garlanding him at the Raj Bhavan. At the Chief Minister’s residential office, Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid homage to the immortal martyr Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his death anniversary.

Along with Ulihatu, the birthplace of Lord Birsa Munda, a life-size statue of Lord Birsa was garlanded in Birsa Park in Khunti Nagar Panchayat area. Birsaits from different areas of Seraikela Kharsanwa and Khunti district reached here and paid tribute by playing Ranbheri on the death anniversary. Birsaits together in plain clothes offered mass prayer at Birsa Park. On 9th June, Birsait observes a fast since morning and consumes chuda and jaggery only after worshiping.
Special vaccination arrangements for Tana Bhagats: Minister Banna Gupta
Here, Health Minister Banna Gupta paid homage to Lord Birsa Munda by garlanding him at Birsa Chowk today. On this occasion, he announced that the state government would run a special corona vaccination campaign for Tana Bhagat, a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, to benefit him from the vaccine. He told that Tana Bhagat still lives his life following the principles of Bapu and the state government considers him as his heritage. So it is the duty of the state government to give them the benefit of vaccination for their safety. Therefore, the Health Department has been directed to run a special vaccination campaign for the Tana Bhagats to benefit them from vaccination.
