Almost 8 Kg Potato In New Zealand May Become The Largest Potato In The World
A potato plantation near Hamilton in New Zealand has yielded a 7.8 kg potato that could be the world’s largest potato. This potato came out of the plantation of a couple named Collin and Donna Craig-Brown on August 30 last. Colin said, ‘We came across this huge potato while we were digging in our plantation. At first we did not believe that it was a potato, but after digging it out, it turned out to be a potato.
Application sent for Guinness World Record
The couple say they have applied to the Guinness Book of World Records to register Doug. However, he has not received any feedback in this regard from the Guinness Book of World Records. Earlier, a giant pumpkin from Italy’s Tuscany region, weighing 1,217.5 kg, won the European Pumpkin Weighing Championship held in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The same pumpkin held the record for the world’s heaviest pumpkin in September with a weight of 1,226 kg.
When the heaviest pumpkin found on social media
After this news was shared on social media, different reactions of people came to the fore. One user wrote, ‘Halloween must have been really awesome in this area.’ Pumpkins are used extensively in the Halloween festival celebrated on the last Sunday of October. Some users speculated that a single pumpkin could be used to make a variety of products.
