In just a week, Delhi-NCR has doubled the number of people visiting hospitals or doctors due to pollution. Someone in the family is suffering from problems like breathing problems, phlegm, tightness, burning in the eyes etc.
Apart from Delhi, Local Circles conducted this survey in Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. These are the cities, which are currently very much troubled by pollution. Local circles had conducted a similar survey in the same cities last week as well. In which 22 percent of the families had told that someone in their place is going to the doctor or hospital due to pollution. It was revealed in the survey that in every five to four families, one or the other is suffering from diseases due to pollution. Now after a polluted week, when this survey was done again in these cities, it was revealed that 86 percent of the households in Delhi NCR are suffering from some or the other pollution related disease. Last week the number was 80 percent. At the end of the second week, 32 percent of the people reported that they had problems like sore throat, phlegm, tightness and burning in the eyes. 7 percent said they had headaches and trouble sleeping. While 20 percent of the people said that they are having trouble breathing.
The survey found that 86 percent of the households in Delhi-NCR are suffering from one or more pollution-related diseases. 59 percent of the households said that one or more members of their households were suffering from sore throat, cough, tightness and burning eyes. 40 percent of the people said they were having trouble breathing. Whereas 27 percent of the people said headache and difficulty in sleeping.
44 percent of the people said that some member of their family has gone to the doctor or hospital due to these diseases. Not only this, 33 percent of the people said that they are going to the doctors to get relief from the problem. 56 percent of the people said they were having problems, but were not going to the hospital. An average of 44 percent people said that some member of their family had gone to the hospital or doctor for these diseases. Whereas at the end of the first week of November, their number was only 22 percent.
However, despite these circumstances, people are not unanimous about the three-day lockdown. In the survey, 48 percent people were in favor of the lockdown, while 52 percent refused the lockdown.
