United Nations, April 29 (Language) Deputy spokesman of the UN chief Antonio Gutaras, Farhan Haque, said the world body team in India is helping local authorities deal with the Kovid-19 and thousands of oxygen concentrators, the Oxigen production plant. And buying other essential equipment to help them. He informed that the United Nations team is also helping to build a mobile hospital.
Farhan Haq told reporters on Wednesday, “I know that you want to know about our help to India in the wake of the current Kovid-19 epidemic.”
He said, “Our team, under the leadership of coordinator Reneta Lok Desaliyan, is supporting the officials fighting the epidemic and making equipment and other supplies.”
Haque said that the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) are purchasing 7,000 oxygen concentrators, 500 items for oxygen supply, including other nasal devices. Apart from this, the help of oxygen producing plant, Kovid-19 testing machine and PPP kit is also being provided.
Haq’s remarks came a day after his statement in which he said that the United Nations had offered to help India through its integrated supply chain but the offer was rejected.
