Aditi directs Tamil Nadu authorities to implement similar covid guidelines in car plants
The court directed the Directorate of Industrial Safety (DIS) to send its officials to the factories of Renault-Nichan and other car makers.
The first bench of High Court Chief Justice Sanjeev Banerjee and Justice Sentilkumar Ramamurthy said doing so is necessary to establish uniform guidelines across factories and if any changes are required, the reasons should be given.
The bench said that the Renault management which cannot amend the existing rules in its own way.
The new interim orders were issued during the hearing of a public interest writ petition filed by the President of the Court Employees Union, Balaji Krishnan. The petition has challenged the May 8 notification of the Revenue Disaster Management Department which exempted from the conditions of lockdown and allowed factories to operate by adopting the necessary conduct under Kovid-19.
On Tuesday, it was told by the managers of Renault that the arrangement made for a particular Tahr is hampering the production. And this arrangement doesn’t even seem necessary. It was also said by Renault that it is unfair to target only Renault in this case.
The next hearing of the case will be on June 14.
