Successive low-pressure systems have kept South Bengal wet over the past few days. Storms and rain are continuing across several districts. The Meteorological Department notes that while low-pressure conditions sometimes subside briefly, storm activity and rainfall are likely to intensify again in South Bengal. South Bengal Weather Update
An alert has been issued again today, Monday, for several districts in South Bengal. Heavy rainfall is expected in multiple districts today; specifically, Jhargram and Purulia may experience heavy downpours, prompting alerts for both areas. Additionally, the low-pressure system is expected to bring heavy rain to East Medinipur and South 24 Parganas. Light rain is forecast for various parts of Kolkata over the next two days.
The remaining districts of South Bengal are likely to experience light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kmph. The Meteorological Department has also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers for most South Bengal districts tomorrow.
Tomorrow, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, and West Bardhaman are likely to witness thundershowers and gusty winds. Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail on Wednesday. Over the next two days, all South Bengal districts are likely to experience thundershowers and gusty winds (30–40 kmph), with heavy rainfall predicted in some areas.
North Bengal Weather Update at a Glance
Thundershowers will continue in North Bengal today, with rainfall expected in some areas. Light to moderate rainfall is expected across all districts, including Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar. However, rainfall is likely to intensify starting Tuesday. Thunderstorm activity may also increase across all districts of North Bengal from tomorrow.
