The number of passengers in mail and express trains is also increasing. According to sources, on May 15, the total booking of reserved passengers in trains was 6.3 lakh. But on June 7, the number of bookings reached 14.6 lakh.
Passengers are allowed to book tickets for future travel. Officials say that the number of passengers in mail and express trains has gradually increased to about 90 percent in the last one week. In mid-May, this figure was at 60 per cent.
More 100 trains can run in next 5-6 days
Railway Board Chairman and CEO Sunit Sharma says that they are ready to run more trains to meet the demand. A plan has been prepared to run 100 more trains in the next 5-6 days. He said that we want to normalize train service as soon as possible. Before the second wave of Kovid 19, we had started the service of about 1500 trains. However, we faced challenges due to the pandemic and restrictions on movement in different states.
